WESTERN BUREAU:
All 130 polling stations are now closed, sealing the fate of the three contenders in today’s Eastern Westmoreland constituency by-election.

Don Foote of the Jamaica Labour Party(JLP), Luther Buchanan of the People’s National Party(PNP)and independent candidate, Ras Astor Black, of the Jamaica Alliance Movement (JAM) are now awaiting the results of the polls, which will reveal the successor to former Prime Minister P.J. Patterson as Member of Parliament for the constituency.

Party supporters in outlying areas are now making their way to the Darliston Primary School grounds where counting will take place.

We have some boxes here and by 5:50 p.m. to 5:40 p.m. the first set of boxes will come in. It will then take another hour or two for the rest of the boxes to be counted and brought into the counting centre, Director of Elections Danville Walker told The Gleaner.
