A disorganized new tropical storm, Erika, is reportedly moving closer to the Northern Leeward Islands.

Forecasters say it is expected to make landfall or pass close to the area during the next day or so.

Some Leeward Islands governments have issued storm warnings in preparation for the arrival of Erika, whose top winds are at 50 miles per hour.
