Today Mutty discusses the economic situation in Bangledesh that he heard during a BBC broadcast. He quoted a woman saying "one chinese can do three Bangledeshi work." However, he talks about China opening up to investment with their enormous workforce. He states that itgoing to be very difficult for us to accomplish as much as the chinese. He comments on the education system and how teachers seem not to master the English Language when listening to them on the radio. Mutty also states that if Jamaica was serious about education, then Teachers would be the highest paid in our society. Presenters: Wilmot 'Mutty' Perkins

What a dismal situation we find ourselves in, a 16-year-old boy stabbed to death by one of his classmates. We seem to have developed a culture of violence and to effect change we need to find the root cause. We need to deal with this as not just a criminal matter, but also as cultural matter. We are not giving our young people today a sense of opportunity, a sense that they can distinguish themselves by achieving skilled performances, studying and earning a decent living. Those that do choose that path have no jobs waiting on them and have to migrate to find work. This cycle is destroying our people and promoting a kind of irresponsibility. Mr Golding’s government cannot be blamed for creating these problems as they have been developing for many years. But, we are not hearing from the Government any proposed solutions that are in any way impressive. Presenters: Wilmot 'Mutty' Perkins

Gunfire at the Jamaica Labour Party’s national conference, The Gleaner alleges that it started inside the arena. Mutty asks why a man armed with a gun would want to get into a secure area containing the Prime Minister, and members of the diplomatic core. While Mutty thought Mr Golding’s speech was a good one overall, he was not very impressed with the Prime Minister’s position on the economy, specifically, the heavy emphasis on tourism. For the tourism industry to expand, Mutty says, Jamaica needs to develop other aspects of industry; provide people with opportunities; cut down on the crime. We need to train our workforce and provide education for young people. Mutty highlights and completely agrees with the statement ‘It is going to be a long time before the opposition has any credibility in talking about corruption.’ Mutty accuses the former Government as being the most corrupt in the history of the country, certainly since 1940, and as far as he knows, going back indefinitely beyond that. Mutty segues to a comment made by Peter Bunting, PNP’s party spokesman on National Security. There has been a marked increase in violence against children, which seems to be the result of organized activity targeting our children. Mutty posits that Mr Bunting is entirely accurate on the matter. He calls for the spokesman to go a step further and answer the question ‘What is the purpose of this organized activity targeting our children in this particularly vicious way?’ Presenters: Wilmot 'Mutty' Perkins

The teachers have signed on to the ministries plans and accepted their substantial increase in salaries. He cautions that we need to be certain that these teachers are worth the money that they are being paid. He is appalled by the fact that children are leaving secondary schools unable to read and write and wonders at the demand for higher salaries. He is strongly of the view that if we took education seriously in this country, then teachers would be among the best-paid professionals in the island. Merely tossing more money at teachers who are, themselves, not up to the standards that they should be is not the solution. Presenters: Wilmot 'Mutty' Perkins

Mutty starts today’s broadcast in song, quoting Ernie Smith’s Duppy Gunman singing ‘I and I man forward, pon a different scene’. He then shares the surprising background behind the words. His moves on to talk about shipments of cheap fertilizer coming into the island. He is struck by the fact that we (the country) do not take advantage of what we have now. He reminisces about growing vegetables and selling them to Beverly Anderson Manley amongst others. At no point did he use artificial fertilizers. Mutty then tackles the death penalty, saying that it almost seems that a libel is being perpetrated against God as ‘the orignator of the death penalty’. He quotes the Reverend Al Miller saying ‘The Government will not be fulfilling it’s roll as God’s authority to dispense justice in the land if it does not support the death penalty, which is a clear command in the scriptures” and proceeds with is own spin on the issue. Mutty posits that the headline ‘Davies fires back at Shaw’ is an erroneous assessment of Davies’ stance. Mr Shaw says that the PNP administration left office with the country’s debt at just over a $1.2 trillion. We have been left with all this debt and an economy, which shows no hope, no inkling of being able to produce the means to pay off this debt. Davies approach was to borrow more money to service existing debt and, as such, the economy is in shambles. Mutty segues into the fact that the Jamaican economy cannot provide jobs for Jamaicans. He talks about the plans of Pearnel Charles to create an exchange labour program with Canada. He laments that 60 per cent of the 5,000 applicants were unable to even sign their names on the relevant application forms but could only ‘make their mark’. He blasts the state of the education system, commenting on the lack of preparation our work force has been through, questioning what the outgoing government was doing in the past 20 years. Mutty mourns the passing of columnist Jeff Brown … He comments briefly on the stabbing of journalist Dr. Paulette McGregor … He suggests that the internal conflict in the PNP, which he claims is developing into a wide split, is counter to the basic nature of democracy. He questions the hypothesis of a prominent journalist that the diminishing of the ‘Drumblair’ element within the PNP is at the root of the party’s problems. He wonders if the opposition to ‘Sister P’ is indicative of an all-out class war within the party. Presenters: Wilmot 'Mutty' Perkins

  • Perkins Online, September 22, 2008
Based on the outcome of the PNP presidential election, Mutty suggests that Prime Minister Golding and the JLP are enjoying themselves - wherever they are. He commends the PNP for the excellence of their procedural organization and running a smooth presidential election but makes clear his disappointment with the acceptance speech of re-elected party leader Mrs Simpson Miller. He also questions the future of Phillips role in the party … He calls for severe, extreme and resolute measures to cope with the problem of crime in Jamaica today. Presenters: Wilmot 'Mutty' Perkins

  • Perkins Online, September 17, 2008
Mutty opines on the difficulties faced by Jamaica’s lack of preparation for global economic failures … Where is our focus on production? … Can Marubeni Caribbean Power Holdings be trusted with the responsibility of so critical a role in the life and economy of Jamaica? He also wonders at the motives behind the JCF High Command’s request for The Gleaner to break journalistic confidentiality and release information about the lady constable who was allegedly raped by a squad mate. Presenters: Wilmot 'Mutty' Perkins

  • Perkins Online, September 04, 2008
Mutty wonders at the behaviour of the Government with respect to the billions of dollars spent to keep Air Jamaica afloat only to seemingly reverse in its tracks and offer similar subsidies to American Airlines. He also questions the effect of the severe shortage of pathologists and post mortems on the nation’s ability to dispense Justice. At the same time, hopes are high for significant improvement within the Justice system by upgrading note-taking procedures. Presenters: Wilmot 'Mutty' Perkins
