Jamaica College start well

Newly crowned Walker Cup Knockout champions, Jamaica College, defeated Calabar 2-1 in the opening match of the second round of the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup football competition today.

The game was the first of a double-header at the Constant Spring field.

Captain Ashani Walker handed Jamaica College victory in injury time. The game was heading for a draw with the scores locked at 1-1.

Andre Messam scored the other goal for Jamaica College in the 31st minute, while Kyle Scott netted for Calabar in the 51st minute.

In the second game, defending champions St George’s College beat Wolmer’s Boys 3-1.

The second round continues tomorrow with a double-header at the same venue.
