Jamaica is now under a state of emergency.

Governor General professor Kenneth Hall issued the proclamation a short while ago.

A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister a short while ago said the State of Public Emergency has been issued for Jamaica and its coastal water for a period of one month.

The Office of the Prime Minister also said the State of Emergency can be revoked anytime during the period.

And the situation will be reviewed as of tomorrow.

The Prime Minister says the proclamation will allow for her to deal with the situation.
