Sergeant Jacob Thompson is dead

The Jamaica Rubgy Union is now mourning the death of its Chairman Sergeant Jacob Thompson, who was killed at his home earlier today.

His death came less than a week before the Annual General Meeting of the Union.

Sergeant Thompson was expected to step down as Chairman of the Union after serving for over 10 years.

Rugby Development Officer Richard Nolan said the rugby fraternity is now in a state of shock.

Sergeant Thompson was honoured by the International Rugby Union last year. He received the second highest award for rugby development in the region.
