My take on this is the sooner the quicker. I hope that I will still be around with all mi teeth to be able to get back on the stage of the new ward theatre. To me that was home for quite some time as you no doubt know.

Comedians are regularly seen in local productions in Jamaica - if by local you mean Ja. The ones that are making it abroad don't necessarily refer to themselves as Jamaicans. If you check BET you will likely to see one or two.

Well, the last production I was in - the Burglary by Anthony Winkler you remember him he wrote the Lunatic and some other very popular books. This was his first play. It went down very well and hopefully it will be doing some tours offshore.

Mr. Hyatt can you tell me what is going one with the theatre community in Jamaica today, we seems to be sailing off slowly into the sunset when it comes to arts in Jamaica. I remembered as only yesterday day the Ward Theatre and the Pantomime.

My love, you sound like a female and pardon me if you are not for calling you my love. The fact is theatre is alive and well and living in Ja. Pantomime still goes on however; it has shifted residence from the Ward Theatre to the Little Theatre. Ward Theatre is on the verge of being refurbished at the end of which it will start a new life. Hope you will be able to see it.

That is not true. Pantomime is still going on. The likes of you and I miss Miss Lou and Ranny, but there are some youngsters holding the fort and doing a good job. This year's pantomime only close two weeks ago.

I met you when I was only 5 when schools took kids to see the pantomime at the ward; from then I've been hooked on Jamaican theatre and believe it should be promoted in schools.

Dem make me laugh sometimes, and yu know children dem mek me cry to. My daughter is in the HBO new series of the wire starting June 1, dont miss her. She goes by the name Michael Hyatt. That's because she fell in love with Michael Jackson when she was a baby. That's the only one in the business. The rest are executives and housewives, husband to be in September.

Well, that is good to know I am indeed a female, don,t let the surname fool you, I have left Jamaica so long ago and recently inquired about Ward theatre and was told it was close, but thank goodness it is not indeed so, I can now pass the word on to those of us who have left Ja so long and still have our memories to live off and it pleases me to be here tonight to talk with you, as the USA celebrate Bob Hope's 100th birthday, I can safely say, no where is better than yard and no comedian is as good as The Honourable Charles Hyatt and I look forward to seeing you in a play soon. We miss the days when Pantomime took up most of the theatre calendar when every kid wanted to go see; but you know the media houses are to be blamed some what I believe because they rather promote American stuff or stuff of limited substance while such plays end up being on the back burner you know.

You played roles in such films as "As High Wind", "Cross Plot", "Love Thy Neighbours" "Cool Runnings" and for a time appeared on British TV in "Crown Court, Six Bites of the Cherry and Blood Knot". Of all the films and TV production that you participated in which was your favorite to act in and why?

For TV I did so many that I would call my favourite - Blood Knot was one of them. Return to Look Behind written by Evan Jones was another. As far as films are concerned naturally Cool Runnings and of course, my baptism of fire occurred in High Wind in Jamaica with Anthony Quinn and Charles Coburn.

Mass Charlie...comedy is certainly an asset - when Iwas in grade school I wasn't big on Kung Fu so therefore I wasn't able to fight well but my jokes usually have my opponent cracking up.. LITERALLY. Sir Charles is anyone in the industry trying to get our Jamaican comedians works catalogue and sold in other countries. I would be honoured to have some tapes from the pantomime. I would love to pass this down to my kids who are first generation Americans and only knows Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, etc....but breaks down when I do a Miss Lou.

I live in a little town in Connecticut, call Meriden, but have no problem driving 200 miles return to NYC to get your CD, so pray tell me where I can get it so I can 'edumicate' my children who now takes to wear the Jamaican Flag like an Olympic medal.

Mass Charlie, is me again. Someone jus sey how we Jamaicans abroad would just love to have more recordings of our very own Jamaican comedians. I have a tape of "Bumpy Head Gal" ; Stella Sey by Barbara Gloudon; couple a Miss Lou's Books and 1 or 2 tapes. Oh yes, of course ah have your book: When mi was a bwoy. Ah hear bout what did happen to Oliver at Large, but still we would love to have more of our Jamaican Pantomimes on Video or DVD. You guys are much, much betta dan Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock and even Bill Cosby. We would so love to have more of you with us, at our convenience, yuh know. Maybe yuh can speak with the Little Theatre Movement and mek dem know jus how wi feel. Mi nuh here right now; an yuh waak gud! NUFF RESPECT!!!
