The foundation has identified the urgent need of a facility in St. Catherine, to accommodate children who suffer from Attention deficit/hyperactive disorder (ADHD). The result of a recent survey done by the Foundation shows that at least 15% of our school population suffers from a learning disability for whom no provision are made by the present educational system and lack of interest shown by the parents through ignorance or financial constraints. The Ministry of Education has agreed that there is a need in St. Catherine; however, they are unable to establish such a facility due to financial constraints. They further advised that they would be willing to assist with the technical aspects of such a facility if the Foundation establishes same.

Since the launching of the St. Catherine Homecoming Foundation an Educational Fund was established. Plans are on the way for the building of a school for children with a learning disability. We at the Foundation would like to be the significant adults to play a major role in the lives of our special children, to help them to achieve, succeed and feel good about themselves and who in the long run will make a worthwhile and significant contribution to their community and society as a whole.
